لعله يکون  من المهم استخدام الموقع الفريد لمؤسسات التعليم العالي في المجتمع لتکون في طليعة  الصفوف الأولى من حيث تحديد ومواجهة المخاطر المتعلقة بالتطورات التکنولوجية والأزمات الصحية لاستکشاف الفرص من أجل  تکوين صوت مستدام، ورؤى مترابطة ومتمحورة حول الإنسان والمجتمع، وبالتالي القدرة على اتخاذ قرارات مستنيرة عن حياة الأفراء والمجتمع.
لقد  جذب مفهوم إدارة المخاطر (Risk Management) الکثير من الاهتمام في کل من الأدبيات الأکاديمية وعالم الأعمال والإدارة في السنوات القليلة الماضي، والفکرة  في الأساس، هى معالجة المخاطر المحتملة بطريقة منظمة ومنهجية، ووضع إستراتيجيات التخفيف ومخططات للتعامل معها قبل وقوعها فعليًا بوقت طويل، تتم إدارة المخاطر من أجل تقليل تأثير المخاطر المحتملة على  المؤسسة إلى مستوى مقبول.
